Dental hygiene is an important area and not always one you would automatically think of when thinking about becoming greener. But it is one where there are an increase of eco friendly products are coming on the market. Here are a couple of examples for which the whole family can participate.
Eco friendly wooden toothbrush
These have been featured on BBC Breakfast TV to great review. The wooden toothbrushes are made from sustainable wood, with natural bristles instead of acrylic. They can be disposed of easily when finished with, have superb cleaning power, but at the same time are gentle on the teeth and gums, and will last as long or indeed longer than the usual plastic toothbrush. Available from Cebra for £4.25.
Adult clip reusuable toothbrush by Monte Bianco
According to the Ecologist magazine, this toothbrush has the potential to reduce toothbrush waste by around 67%. As you are only replacing the heads each time and not the whole toothbrush, you will also save yourself some money in the long run. You get a choice of textures, and colours. Available from Eco-Essentials for £2.60 each. You can also purchase extra heads as well.
